Brady then argues that men are not sponges, ( in regards to a tangent conversation that arose ) and that sponges can not think, but that god could make them think if he wanted to.
Drummond shows everyone a rock, which he explains is millions of yours old.
But according to Brady, the rock can't be that old, for the 'world was created in 4004bc' and this is proven in the ages of the profit.
The two begin to argue using their facts and rebuttals,
then spiral off into an argument regarding the legnth of the so called first day,
Brady admits that the first 'day' may not have been a 24 hour day, because there was no way to tell being that there was no sun yet.
Is this a fight over peoples beliefs and religion??
Brady calls Drummond a celebrated agnostic!
Jury and audience are at this point feeling more sympathetic towards Brady.
Drummond: ~If the sun wasn't created until the fourth day how were the first four measured, and more so, WHO measured them?
AT THIS POINT:
Brady is popular with the people, his arguments satisfy them, Drummonds arguments on the other hand are factual and compelling, but are not making the people happy.
Drummond begins to use both everyday logic and science to back his arguments, accuses Brady of speaking to god.
Brady has lost his popularity and can't come back. Apparently, he has spoken to god, and therefore seems arrogant. Brady becomes angry and shouts and pumps fist furthering his new stigma.
Brady has lost his popularity
You could try and go a little deeper in your explination, you got all the points of the arguement but you could be a little more specififc in some areas.
ReplyDeleteIt would help to write more about the transition from the people supporting Brady to the people supporting drummond. Is it because he is more charismatic, or because makes Brady look bad?
